Saturday ended on a much different and unexpected note. Initially I thought I would be meeting up with a few of the girlies for a night of out and about, but instead, ended up hanging out with the friend of a mutual friend. A bit of background, I call her the Tamale Lady and that is all I know of her, she makes some of the best tasting tamales I have ever had and even puts a black olive in them, oh and my mom goes crazy over them. So the only time I actually see her is around December, however we do talk on FB occasionally.
So yesterday afternoon while doing a bit of FB surfing and playing my Farm Hero’s Saga, she posted a comment stating that she really needed some time out, needed to escape for a bit, was looking for anyone interested in just hanging out for a few hours. So since our little girlie group is always open to new members, I invited her along to hang out with us and she accepted.
The plan was to meet up at our regular place back in Phoenix, I have not been in there since they renovated the whole place and was interested in seeing it for myself. Although many people have posted comments about it on FB, I needed to check it out for myself. I was not at all impressed, in fact the atmosphere and attitude from the staff was as if we walked in off the street into one of the high end places the stars of Hollywood frequent. The food was crazy outrageous, a platter of Chicken Strips, just 4 measly little strips with French Fries would have cost me $12.00. Oh and they didn’t have coffee! NO COFFEE! The seating area and a portion of the dance floor was covered in Black Lights with blue light strips, it reminded me of one of those Retro-Disco type places, can’t even explain it. However with the black light alone, a definite no-go for me, those type of lights are a migraine trigger for me if I am under them too long.
Anyway, so after mulling around and not seeing a single familiar face we made our way outside to the smoking area to decide what to do. The majority of the group wanted to go to Tucson to listen to a friend’s band, okay Tucson is 2.5 hours away, yeah, NO. I declined and so did the Tamale Lady. When all was said and done, Tamale Lady and myself ended up down the street at my favorite pool playing spot and the other girlies went to Tucson.
For having our night out plans somewhat tossed up in the air, the night went pretty good. We were able to have a great Steak dinner for $12.00 with all the fixings, listened to a bit of Karaoke, played pool and just chilled. I think the Tamale Lady was more appreciative than anything, doesn’t sound like she has much of a women’s support system of her own, so I invited her to be a part of ours.
And then this morning, Russ received a call from his neighbor friend of the house in Phoenix. Not good, not good at all. Shit is going down with his daughter and after the conversation got extremely heated, she has 1 month to clean up the house and it’s surroundings or get the hell out. At this time, the only reason he even allowed her to stay there is for the baby, well, he’s 6 now, but still, it’s his grandson and he wants him to have a roof over his head. Basically when we got our place here in Scottsdale, I put mine up for sale and he kept his for the daughter, now that she has completely trashed it and allowed some friends of hers to basically ‘squat’ there, he is done. If she doesn’t get them out and clean it up, he’s evicting her, cleaning it up and putting it on the market. The crazy part in all this is we have only been in our new home since the beginning of April, so she has only had free run of the house in Phoenix for just over a month and it looks like shit. He was not a happy man when we drove up the drive way, I could see his knuckles turning white on the steering wheel as we pulled in.
Oh and on my side of the family, my youngest son and his family, who just recently relocated to Texas are on their way back to California. WHATTTTTT!!!! Apparently his old job came calling and he accepted. So the plan is to drop his wife and baby off at her mothers home in Safford, he will then drive to CA, stay with his step-dad while working and getting things settled for them before he goes to get her and the baby. I don’t know, but I had a conversation with him and advised him they need to settle down, stop bouncing all over the globe at the drop of a hat. That baby needs to plant his roots and all this job changing is not good for him, it’s not showing a consistent pattern of employment, it’s showing his ability to just up and leave when he feels like it! Ugh! Well at this point, I will be happy to see them when they get to his grandmothers, even if it will only be for a couple of hours.
Ya know, for a Sunday which is supposed to be a day to relax… I am damn exhausted. Oh and with that, I wont even get started on Hotness… will leave that for another post.
