While on one of the many busy freeways this morning, minding my own business and heading to work like a good, responsible member of society, there were 3 obstacles within a 2 mile radius that convinced me to get the hell off the freeway and for the first time, take the surface streets to work.
The first incident was a dump truck in front of me with a full load of rocks or dirt was cut off as some ding-dong decided to go from the far left lane into the far right lane, which includes 3 lanes between them, as the idiot made that crazy trek, not only did the dump truck driver do a remarkable job of keeping it under control, but the immediate tap of the brakes and slight slide to the right sent the stuff in the back of the truck sliding over, which then made the contents shift weight to mostly one side. The driver then pulled over to the right shoulder of the freeway, hopefully to fix what had happened.
The second incident was a utility type truck loaded with pipes, not the big ones, but the skinny long type. As I am approaching this truck, I can see that these pipes are quite loose because they are bouncing atop of each other, basically I am assuming either they weren’t tied down, or they came loose. Regardless, there was another truck to the left of the drivers side window, horn honking like crazy and I could see that the passenger in the truck was motioning to the other truck guy that there is an issue at the ass-end of his truck.
The last incident that occurred prior to me exiting the freeway all together was someone came flying up from my right side on a motorcycle and proceeded to whip right in front of me and then went to the left side of the car in front of me and threw a coffee cup or something at the cars driver side window. With that the motorcycle person took off like a bat out of hell with this car following close on his heels.
To say the least, it was a crazy morning commute. Thankfully, on a regular work day I am only on the freeway for about 7 minutes, both ways, either way, that is still way too long. ughhhhh…
Oh, pool tourney tonight, wish me luck. 😉
